Save Money - Buy a Used Japanese Car

I had been looking around for a good deal on a used car. I was told to check out Japanese used cars. Apparently Japanese used cars are selling at very low prices. Even if I add in the cost of transporting a used Japanese car from Japan to here it is still a great deal. I will have to arrange for the steering wheel to be changed from the right hand drive to a left hand drive. But that will not cost very much. I will still be able to get a quality used Japanese car even after shipping and changing the location of the steering wheel. There are a lot of Japanese used cars available several different used Japanese car dealerships websites.

I was unsure why used Japanese cars were so inexpensive. For the most part they seemed to be in excellent condition due to the Japanese rules regarding motor-vehicle inspections on any cars being exported. It turns out that Japan has some very tough rules on car emissions. Many Japanese cannot sell their cars in Japan. They don't pass the current emission requirements. They have turned to selling the cars to dealers, often through auctions, that export the cars. On top of that used Japanese cars are not seen as being very valuable after six year. There is a high depreciation on cars in Japan. So the cars go for very cheap. Japan has some very strict environmental laws making it very expensive for Japanese to dispose of their cars.

At first I was going to try and buy one directly from Japan and deal with all the paperwork myself. Then I found a local dealership that actually imports used Japanese cars regularly. They buy a bunch of them and then change the steering wheels right away. I saved myself a lot of time and money by going through them to get the car I wanted.

Ecologically - Blue Is The New Green

We are all very aware that cars are the cause of 25% of carbon gas emissions into the environment which aids global warming. Governments, scientists and environmentalists have all come forth with their plans/ideas to reduce this threat to global warming.

As individuals we have all been encouraged to make our individual efforts to help the environment, be it by not using countless plastic bags from supermarkets, sorting our rubbish out into separate sacks for safer environmental disposal to leaving our cars in the driveway and getting on our bikes. All very noble and helpful.

What are we then to make of the biggest manufacturer of aircraft in the world, Boeing, stating they are expecting official approval of biofuel use in the near future.

A Boeing official is reported as stating "the certification will happen sooner than anyone thinks, "within 3-5 years we will have approval for the commercial use of biofuels". The official also added that aircraft would not require any modification to operate on a mix of their current fuel kerosene, and biofuel.

Some people might see this mixed fuel proposal as a step forward in curtailing the advance of global warming and being of help to the environment.

Before you think of embracing this new idea lets have a look at some relevant facts, 1) the proposed biofuel needs to be produced, 2) there are 13000 commercial aircraft currently in use.

It is estimated that the ratio of biofuel to kerosene will be 30/70. As the aircraft industry currently uses 85 billion gallons of kerosene per annum, to provide that 30% mix of biofuel from soya beans for example would require the equivalent land mass of Europe being set aside for this purpose.

In fairness to Boeing they are not alone in the aircraft world on this matter. Airbus and British Airways have been conducting trials with Rolls Royce, while Air France-KLM, who are the worlds' largest airline by revenue, have also given their backing to biofuels.

In contrast to aircraft the motor industry would appear to be making progress in producing cars more friendly to the environment.

The U.S.A. which has traditionally been the home of the big gas-guzzling cars is now turning towards "european" models with more of an emphasis on green credentials and economy.

European and Asian car makers seem to be responding better and quicker to market trends demanding greener and more economical cars.

Without doubt the car industry is experiencing a very difficult time. In the UK from Sept.'07 to Sept.'08 new car registrations fell by 27%. In Sept '08 alone Toyotas' Japanese sales alone fell by nearly 50%. Even in the giant growing economy of China car sales have slumped, which is also the case for France, Germany, Brazil, Mexico and India.

The future, as seen from today's perspective, in the car industry seems to be focused on two types of car:- the "city" car and the green economical and environmentally friendly car.

Electric city cars are now in production by nearly all manufacturers but the limitation of distance driving has still not been overcome; also the basic infrastructure of support is not there and battery replacement is a costly item. As their name implies they are mainly limited to cities and until technology improves there they will remain.

In contrast the buzz in the car industry is all about small petrol and diesel cars. Perhaps mindful of eco-fatigue "blue is the new green". European and Japanese car makers seem now to be including blue in all their branding to identify their green cars??

With the European Commission shortly expected to ratify a new carbon emissions target of 130grams per kilogram those car makers that have taken this onboard are expected to cash in.

Car makers across the spectrum now have models which are attaining levels well below 130g/kg, and returning over 60 m.p.g. The magic target for all car makers for carbon emissions is 100g/kg and is reportedly already being attained by a certain Asian manufacturer.

For those of you who cannot afford a new economical car friendly to the environment and global warming do not give up,there is now, at minimal cost, the alternative of a water to fuel conversion system which will give near zero carbon gas emissions and greatly increase m.p.g.
Author Resource:- Bill is now retired but as a keen motorist has driven on most continents of the world and has a keen interest in environmental issues, these account for only a couple of his many varied interests. How to Find New Cars for Sale within Your Budget

Cars...what budget

One of the biggest hassles of finding new cars for sale is, undoubtedly, finding one that has all the features you need, while still fitting your budget. Traipsing around from one dealership to the next, looking for that perfect car is a tiring endeavor even when it's successful. And when it's not, when you still can't find exactly what you're looking for, it can be extremely aggravating. Luckily, technology now provides you with many alternatives to that tiresome process, and thus makes finding a new car within your budget both infinitely easier, and far more effective. That said, while no one way will provide a fix-all for your search, by combining the strengths of a number of innovative online and informational services, you will end up saving time, energy, and money.

Step 1: Know Exactly What You Need The first step to finding a car within your budget and has all the features you require, is to figure out exactly what your requirements are. This may seem obvious, but spelling out exactly what you expect, and for how much, will make the process of looking for the car much, much simpler. Things you need to consider might include: what common features do you know, right off the top of your head, that you can do without; are any of the features you require really just "wants" instead of "needs"; Identify the features you can't live without and those that you might be willing to let go for a price break? These are just examples of the sort of thinking you should be doing at this stage, but they are indicative of this important step in finding the right car. Once you have them written down, you'll be prepared to make informed decisions on actual cars.

Step 2: Customize Your Search One of the most revolutionary aspects of the Internet is the unparalleled ability to find information that is custom tailored exactly to your request. When you match this capacity with looking for a new car, the difficulties of the latter almost melt away. Equipped with your list of prioritized requirements, take your search to the web and plug in the specifics of what you are looking for, as well as the area in which you live. By using the internet, you'll have listings within seconds of all of the nearby dealerships that have cars matching your specifications including sorted by distance, price, or any number of data categories.

Step 3: Go See the Car When you've narrowed it down to a few cars that look like they'll fit your needs, print out the report, and visit the dealer listed in the info. By having your specifications ready, and the knowledge that the car is currently in stock, you will make both your life and the dealer's life much easier. It will get you into your car faster, keys in hand. And that's really all there is to it. Searching for and finding the perfect car has never been easier using the internet if you have all the relevant information.

Cars, which one in the credit crunch

Economical New Cars that Achieve Over Fifty Miles Per Gallon in the UK. Article Author:
Dave Foord

Using the words of Bob Dylan, of the Times, they are a changing and this is certainly true when we look at the habits of the new car buyer. Successive governments have failed to curb our excessive fuel demands, indeed, for many years cars just seemed to get bigger and bigger, with fuel consumption figures dropping, sometimes barely hitting double figures. Then came the troubles in the oil producing regions of the world, swiftly followed by the credit crunch and all of a sudden attitudes have changed. Market forces have influenced the new car buyer and as a result, the car manufacturers have moved swiftly to fill the chasm that is opening in the marketplace, the need for comfortable, but fuel efficient new cars. Listed below are ten economical new cars, not in any particular order, or indeed, not even market leaders, what they do have in common though is their ability to travel over fifty miles per gallon on the combined cycle. They may not be the answer to all our problems, buy they are certainly a step in the right direction.

MINI Cooper 1.6 D

The 1.6 diesel MINI Cooper has had the EfficientDynamics treatment by BMW, low rolling resistance tyres, electric power steering, an intelligent alternator control / brake energy regeneration system, an automatic stop-start function and a high precision Direct Injection system are amongst the advances that have been applied to the new diesel Cooper and as a result it achieves a staggering 72.4 miles per gallon on the combined cycle.

Volkswagen Polo Bluemotion

Powered by a 1.4 litre, three cylinder, diesel engine that is fitted with a with a variable-geometry turbocharger that gives maximum assistance at low speeds, the Polo Bluemotion is one of the leaders in its class. Volkswagen have used a few tricks to get the Polo Bluemotion to perform as frugally as it does, the obligatory low-rolling-resistance tyres, lightweight alloy wheels and improved aerodynamics all contribute to the Bluemotion achieving 74.3 miles per gallon on the combined cycle. Exhaust gas recirculation and a particulate filter give the Polo another advantage over most cars in the UK market, Co2 emissions of only 99g/km, resulting in zero road tax. Low cost motoring at its best.

Audi A3 1.9 TDIe

Audi may not be the first manufacturer that comes to mind when it comes to economical cars, but this just goes to show how serious manufacturers are now taking the situation we find ourselves in. The A3 1.9 TDIe is powered by a reworked diesel unit and this combined with aerodynamic tweaks, low-resistance tyres and a recommended gear display mean the Audi will travel 62.8 miles for every gallon on the combined cycle. So, if you you're looking for a car with green credentials, but don't want to compromise on quality, the A3 1.9 TDIe may tick all the boxes you require.

Citroen C1 1.0i Vibe 3 door

The Citroen C1 could just as easily be substituted with the Peugeot 107 or the Toyota Aygo as they all share the same platforms and the same engines, that said the C1 was chosen for one thing and one thing alone, price. Designed in collaboration between the three manufacturers, all are extremely capable city cars with low road fund bandings and good mpg figures, slight cosmetic differences are really the only things that set the models apart, that and the fact that Citroen run slightly better offers making them the lowest priced model. Powered by a one litre petrol engine the C1 will return 61.8 miles per gallon on the combined cycle and has Co2 emissions of 108 g/km.

New BMW 1 Series 118d EfficientDynamics

Voted World green car of the year in 2008 by 47 journalists from 24 different countries, the BMW 118d EfficientDynamics makes use of energy capture systems, brake energy regeneration, auto stop-start, optimum gear-shift change indicators, electric power steering and lightweight body panels to achieve a quite remarkable 62.8 miles per gallon on the combined cycle. With BMW expecting sales of 700,000 cars a year in Europe that have EfficientDynamics incorporated, the fuel savings are estimated to be in the region of 33 million gallons, quite a substantial saving by anyones book

Ford Fiesta ECOnetic

When it comes to economical new cars the Ford Fiesta ECOnetic has to be up there with the best of them. Powered by a specially tuned 1.6 litre diesel engine the Fiesta ECOnetic is the most economical Ford and possibly the most economical car around at the moment. Longer gear ratios, a gear change indicator, aerodynamic wheel trims, low rolling resistance tyres, lowered suspension and the fact that it weighs about 40 kgs less than the outgoing Fiesta mean that the ECOnetic will let you drive 76.3 miles on the combined cycle for every gallon of diesel you put in. Ford may be struggling in the US, but with figures like these the Fiesta ECOnetic it sure to prove a big hit in Europe.

Volkswagen Touran 1.9 TDI DPF BlueMotion S 105 5dr

Unfortunately not everybody can utilise a small city car or hatchback, after all some people do have families and this obviously restricts their choice when it comes to buying a new car. For those in that position, Volkswagen has come to the rescue in the form of the Touran Bluemotion. The Extremely popular MPV sports a new front grille and air intake, optimised aerodynamics, lower suspension and higher gearing along with low rolling resistance tyres, combined, these improvements mean that the Touran Bluemotion will return 52.3 miles per gallon on the combined cycle. Proving you don't necessarily have to downsize to do your little bit.

New Toyota Prius 1.5 VVT-i

When launched, the Toyota Prius was seen by many as just a gimmick, as a result both Lexus and its parent company, Toyota, have stolen a bit of a march over their competitors. Exemption from the London congestion charge has certainly helped to raise the profile of the Prius and as a result it has become a common sight on the roads throughout the UK. Powered by a 1.5 litre petrol engine and a high output electric motor the Prius switches between the two, the electric motor takes charge at low speeds (up to 28 mph), with the petrol engine taking the strain at higher speeds. The result, a combined cycle of 65.7 miles per gallon, making the Toyota Prius an ideal car not only for the city, but also for those who choose to commute.

Skoda Fabia 1.4 TDI PD 80 GreenLine

Another offering from the Volkswagen stable to take a trip down to the wind tunnel is the Skoda Fabia Greenline, it may not quite match up to the Polo Bluemotion or the Seat Ibiza Ecomotive, it is however, quite a bit more frugal than the rest of the Fabia range. Achieving 68.9 miles per gallon on the combined cycle, the Greenline should theoretically drive 689 miles on a full tank, put into perspective, that's seventy miles more than a standard Fabia 1.4 TDI. The Greenline may cost a little more than its siblings, but with petrol and diesel prices as they are, it won't take very long before you've recouped the cash.

New Mazda 2 1.3 TS

Generally, as we get older, we add weight, something that also seems to happen to cars. Redesigns and facelifts always seem to add a few pounds here and there and as a result larger, more powerful engines are required just to achieve the same performance. Not so with the new Mazda 2. When Mazda launched the new 2 model it weighed in an incredible 100 kgs lighter than the model it replaced. It's safer (five stars from EuroNCAP for adult occupants), has more equipment as standard, yet still manages 52.3 miles per gallon on the combined cycle, quite an achievement really.

If you are in the market for a new car make sure you look at economical cars that get more than fifty miles per gallon.
